Our client in the agriculture sector is seeking a Finance Manager responsible for financial management, control, reporting, compliance, treasury and financial performance. The role will ensure the integrity of financial records, timely reporting, effective cashflow management and adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements. The finance manager will also leverage financial data and analytics to provide operational insights, support decision-making, improve performance and strengthen financial governance.
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration or a related field
- A Master's Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
Professional Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPAK)
- Registered member of ICPAK or any other relevant professional body and in good standing.
- Valid practicing license if applicable;
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in finance, accounting and financial management.
- At least three years in senior management with responsibility in financial reporting, budgeting, treasury management and compliance.
- Demonstrated experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- Strong experience in financial reporting, cashflow management, and financial controls.
- Manage banking relationships and treasury operations to structure and manage the relevant equity and debt capital for expansion of the business.
- Proficiency in financial modelling, data analytics, and business intelligence reporting.
- Experience in implementing and managing ERP and financial management systems.
- Experience in agribusiness retail business will be an added advantage.
Financial reporting and control
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Maintain integrity of financial records and general ledger accounts.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and association policies.
- Manage accurate, complete and timely financial information to prepare the association's financial statements, i.e income statement, balance sheets, file tax returns and other reports to relevant statutory bodies.
Budgeting, forecasting and performance planning
- Coordinate the annual budgeting and implementation to meet operations and development expenditure and lead periodic forecasting.
- Monitor performance against budgets and approved plans as well as profits, expenses and cash flows.
- Analyse variances and provide recommendations to improve performance to management and the Board.
- Prepare management reports and financial dashboards for management review.
Treasury and Cash Flow Management
- Manage cash flow, liquidity and working capital requirements.
- Prepare and maintain accurate cash flow forecasts.
- Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable and bank reconciliations.
- Support timely collection and effective management of supplier obligations.
- Manage banking relationships and treasury operations to structure and manage the relevant equity and debt capital for expansion of the business.
- Maintain asset registers.
- Advise on pricing and determination of product pricing to maximise the returns and boost sales.
Compliance, Audit and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, regulatory and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and implement corrective actions.
- Develop, implement and review policies, strategies, standards and guidelines for financial reporting and investment.
- Develop and implement financial control systems that safeguard and protect Association assets.
Data analytics and business intelligence
- Utilise financial data and analytics to support operations and commercial decision-making.
- Analyse Association operations to identify opportunities and areas of recognition, cost reduction or elimination.
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards and performance reports.
- Analyse revenue, costs, profitability and working capital.
- Provide actionable insights to support business and performance efficiency.
Leadership and stakeholder engagement
- Guiding other departments by interpreting government accounting policies and applying them in the operations of the Association.
- Lead and develop the finance team to achieve organisational objectives.
- Collaborate with departmental heads in supporting financial planning and performance.
- Provide financial advice to Management and the Board to assist in business development, that includes expansion into new markets, products, services and branches.
