Vacancy
The Training Manager will lead the design, delivery, and quality assurance of professional development programs within the RRT Unit, serving as a cornerstone of the organisation's capacity-building mandate for Kenya's insurance industry. The role will ensure that all training programmes — including accredited and regulatory-aligned learning pathways — meet market needs, uphold quality standards, and contribute to the Unit's commercial and developmental objectives. The position will oversee the full training lifecycle: curriculum development, trainer management, programme evaluation, accreditation, and financial oversight. The Training Manager will act as a key liaison with insurers, regulators, partners, and professional bodies to strengthen the organisation's influence and market presence.
Education and certification
• Master’s degree in Education, HRD, Insurance, Business, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
• Professional certifications in training, HR, or insurance are an added advantage.
• Knowledge of NITA, KNQA, and CPD requirements is desirable.
Experience
• Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience.
• At least 5 years in training, learning & development, or capacity‑building roles.
• Proven experience in curriculum design, programme accreditation, and quality
assurance.
• Demonstrated success implementing digital and blended learning solutions.
• Experience in insurance or financial sector training is strongly preferred.
1. Training Strategy & Planning
• Translate the Unit’s strategic objectives into an operational Training Strategy.
• Develop annual training plans, programme calendars, and implementation roadmaps.
• Identify priority training areas informed by industry trends and stakeholder feedback.
2. Programme Design & Development
• Lead curriculum development and certification programme creation.
• Ensure alignment with regulatory, professional, and national qualification frameworks.
• Continuously review industry needs and update training offerings to remain
market-responsive.
• Advance innovation in blended and digital learning delivery.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop high-quality training materials.
3. Training Delivery & Operations
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee delivery of physical, virtual, and hybrid programmes.
• Manage training logistics, materials, venues, and scheduling.
• Ensure an exceptional participant experience and promptly resolve operational issues.
4. Trainer & Faculty Management
• Recruit, induct, and manage a pool of qualified trainers and facilitators.
• Oversee trainer performance, utilisation, and adherence to quality standards.
• Coordinate trainer scheduling and engagement.
5. Learning Management System (LMS) Implementation & Management
• Lead implementation, administration, and continuous enhancement of the LMS.
• Configure courses, learning pathways, and system access.
• Monitor learner progress and programme performance using LMS analytics.
• Develop user guidance, policies, and procedures in collaboration with the IT function.
6. Business Development & Revenue Growth
• Identify and pursue training opportunities with insurers, intermediaries, corporates,
and partners.
• Contribute to proposal development and client engagements for training contracts.
• Support the growth of training revenue and the organizations' market footprint.
7. Financial Management & Statutory Compliance
• Develop and manage training budgets and cost controls.
• Set course fees and oversee revenue reporting.
• Ensure accurate and timely NITA levy and statutory compliance.
• Support revenue generation through innovative, market-responsive products.
8. Quality Assurance & Monitoring
• Implement quality assurance frameworks for training programmes.
• Develop monitoring and evaluation systems for performance tracking.
• Analyse participant feedback, learning outcomes, and trainer performance.
• Prepare performance reports and implement continuous improvement actions.
9. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
• Build and maintain relationships with insurers, regulators, professional bodies, and
training providers.
• Coordinate accreditation and CPD approvals with relevant authorities.
• Represent the organisation in industry forums, committees, and partnerships.
• Collaborate internally to ensure training priorities align with organisational needs.
10. Leadership & Team Management
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to the training team.
• Build team capability and foster a culture of accountability and continuous
improvement.
• Ensure compliance with the organizations' policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
11. Licensing, Accreditation & Unit Establishment
• Support institutional establishment and operationalisation of the RRT Unit.
• Coordinate licensing, accreditation, and compliance processes.
• Develop operational policies, procedures, and systems in collaboration with relevant
departments.
